Thank you, John Ziegler

March 30, 2010

I found this story on the Daily Caller yesterday and to be quite honest, I was thrilled.  I’ve been trying to say this now for probably 2 months and Mr. Ziegler took the words right out of my mouth.  I know I’ll be barraged by hardcore Palinista’s but I’d like to point out that, I am still a big Sarah Palin fan, I will always be a fan I just happen to think she is not running for President in 2012 and that is why I’m keeping my options open… See previous post.

A few weeks ago on these pages I shocked a lot of people by strongly stating what seems to be an obvious but important reality that Sarah Palin cannot beat President Obama in 2012. While many of her incredibly passionate fans are still understandably unwilling to accept this clear fact (and therefore take their frustrations out on me), this post is not to gloat over the most recent credible poll showing that Palin would be, as I predicted, the worst possible contender against an Obama who still is a strong favorite to win reelection. Instead, I want to praise Palin for possibly understanding this situation and reacting brilliantly to it.

While anyone not named Todd or Sarah who pretends to know for sure what Palin’s long-term plans are is either delusional or a liar, the news that she has secured a Learning Channel deal to air an eight-part documentary on Alaska may provide quite us a bit of insight.

Sarah Palin is a great woman.  She’s been great, and she’ll continue to be great for the conservative movement.  The woman can draw crowds like nobody’s business.  The simple fact is, she doesn’t appear to be making any real chase for the White House.  I think she likes doing what she’s doing; firing up the base and getting conservatives elected.  People will drive miles upon miles to see her and they will pay boatloads of money to see her.  Palin will be a force in the conservative/republican movement for as long as she wants to and as long as she’s involved the money will be pouring in for the conservative movement.   Plus, she drives the left insane.  You can’t complain about that.
I’d just like to finish by saying something to those who refuse to move when it comes to “Palin 2012″ shenanigans, please keep an open mind to other candidates.
((runs for cover))
Update: A few friends and I on Twitter got to talking about how we’d like to see Palin do an interview outside of Fox News to sort of expand her audience and let other people hear her interviewed by someone who may not be her biggest fan.  We thought Jake Tapper of ABC would be a great person for Palin to chat with.  I mentioned it on Twitter and Tapper told us that he has tried contacting Palin for an interview but he has been refused.  I’ve always been a fan of Tapper’s.  I think he is an excellent journalist and would be tough but fair when questioning Sarah Palin.  Cubachi wrote an excellent piece about this and included some great video of Jake Tapper.
So, Sarah if you’re listening, we’d love to see you talk with Jake Tapper and know you’d do great!

    Ziegler has lost it.

What makes you think Palin won’ run in 2012? Her TV show?

You must be too young to remember Ronald Reagan, he was still filming “Death Valley Days” while he was running for California Governor!

From what I understand Sarah’s role in the documentary is limited. Besides that, she is the ultimate multi-tasker.

Look, the gal has already assembled a “kitchen cabinet” gets daily briefings on important matters, is criss-crossing the nation spreading her message, and plans on writing a policy book. (not that Going Rogue wasn’t a policy book)

No one does retail politics than Palin. No one.

As for polls, especially this far out, they are meaningless. again, look back to Reagan. Three years out he was barely a blip on the radar. He was a “washed up B movie actor” an “amiable dunce.” And yet, Reagan won in a landslide in 1980 and an even bigger landslide in 1984.

There are no other viable candidates for 2012, at least not yet.

You think Romney is it? Not even.

Look, a ham sandwich or a three legged dog will beat Obama in 2012. He has made himself re-election proof. So that’s not even up for debate at this point.

The thing is, Romney is another Big Government progressive. RomneyCare makes him unelectable and unwanted.

    Pawlenty…yawn.

    Mitch Daniels….double yawn.

Newt..DeDe Scozzafave and bench sitting with Pelosi in an Al Gore ad. Not no but HELL NO!

Sarah has been out there fighting while the rest have been hiding, or trying to follow her.

Sarah is a leader, a true leader.

Anyone who thinks the presidency isn’t her’s for the asking is fooling themselves.

Yay, Jackie! Like you, I would pull the lever for Palin but don’t think she is running. She can’t spend one dime of SarahPAC money on her own campaign and she has no fundraising mechanism in place for running for office. That is the biggest indicator to me that she is not running. I have issues with her and would actually prefer another candidate for President for some very big reasons which I dare not go into here, but if she makes a run and if she has the energy behind her, I’ll pull the lever for her. I just don’t think she’s running! Nice blog. I’ll add you to my blogroll. I’m also going to subscribe to your posts.

Jackie, don’t sweat it if they smear you, okay? Some of the Palinistas smeared me and continue to mischaracterize my position on Palin. I do not believe Sarah Palin would approve, considering what she has been through with smearing and mischaracerizations. I think she would want us to say what we think, no matter what. Some seem to think that if you disagree with her on something, you are automatically an Obama supporter. Stay strong, sister, and say what you think! I’m sure that’s what Palin would tell you, too. God bless!

Does anyone beside me wonder why Sarah is suporting a “Socialist-Lite”?

John McCain is not a Constitutional Conservative.

I believe that Sarah is. Why is she sullying her name by associating herself with his campaign?

I have conservative friends in Arizona who are supporting John McCain because they believe Hayworth to be fringe and unelectable in the general election. She relates to me and my situation here in Kentucky in regard to the Rand Paul endorsement. I have found that the term “Constitutional Conservative” generally refers to people who want to repeal some amendments. I love our Constitution the way it is but with a Human Life Amendment added. I don’t think it’s right to call yourself a “Constitutional” candidate if you are not happy with keeping the Constitution we have. It’s a misnomer. At least John McCain supports a Human Life Amendment whereas Sarah Palin never has. Constitutionally speaking, McCain is more pro-life than Palin is, if he still supports a Human Life Amendment. Unfortunately, a lot of folks are relying on their warm fuzzies about her and aren’t paying attention to her actual positions. Is she as bad as Obama? HECK NO! But on the issue of personhood and the Human Life Amendment…….our pro-life planks in the GOP platform, she has been SILENT. Pay attention, folks.

Most of you are too young to remember Jimmy Carter and his disastrous administration. The true quote of George Santayana is: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Note the many similarities between then (1976-1980) and now. There was even a measure of the difficult times many people were having. The news media would quote the day’s “Misery Index” as part of their short introduction to further news. I wonder how the current mis-administration would react to a daily “Misery Index” being broadcast…

The final and main point is, like many people today, John Ziegler shows rather low historical knowledge. Jimmy Carter was an abysmal one term president. Obama has proven to be even more inept. Thus, Obama is clearly doomed to one term only.

I’ll put money where my mouth is (what small amount I have). Jackie Seal will get $50.00 from me if Obama is re-elected in 2012. If she wants to arrange a trustee to hold that amount until then, fine. Otherwise, my word is a bond. If I’m correct (fair or foul – Zero is out) – no money is exchanged.

    Care to challenge my argument…?
